I made my first shopping trip on official blog business today. I started out at Three Star Resale Shop in Logan Square located at 2600 w. Fullerton. I had high hopes due to reading some rave reviews but unfortunately this shop left me feeling a bit disappointed. The shop itself was very tidy and organized but the merchandise was just ho-hum. The photo below is from yelp and it looks far more promising then it appeared on the day of my visit. I did spy a cute set of chairs similar to the riviera bistro chair found at Serena & Lily. However at $800 for a set of 4 not sure why I wouldn't just buy them new and in perfect shape. The furniture veered toward mid-century modern and they had some interesting knick- knacks but prices were surprisingly high and I ended up leaving empty handed and underwhelmed. Final verdict - skip it

Onward and upward - I scooted over to Praha @2201 w. Belmont. This was a charming little shop (emphasis on little as this was truly hard to move around in). Nice variety of furniture pieces and good selection of decor items. They had loads of antique books at reasonable prices (averaging $5) and a sweet assortment of lamps - which I usually find hard to come by. Some interesting locally sourced items such as candles and chalk paint. The owner, Todd was very friendly and informative. I was interested in a tallboy dresser that was a little worse for the wear and he offered to clean it up and paint it for $200 bringing the grand total up to $350 - I think a good deal all in all. Final verdict - worth a visit if you are in the area.
